I've seen a number of posts regarding exhaust replacement which have referred to a copper ring that they've saved from the old exhaust and re-used in the new exhaust. Now, I may be wrong so hopefully some of the gurus on this forum will correct me if I am. But I thought those copper rings were called "crush gaskets". They come sort of round when they're new, and they crush to form an airtight seal in the exhaust. When you take out a crush gasket, you are not supposed to re-use it because it's already been "crushed"! Every time you remove the exhaust you should buy a new crush gasket, thus preventing air leaks. Throw away the old one because it's useless.
Again, if this is not how it works on the Savage exhaust, someone go ahead and correct me.
